Aside from being a necessity, shopping is really all we have as a means to get out of the house these days. But with supermarkets regularly being sold out of eggs and toilet paper and citizens being naturally stressed about being in a close vicinity to others, shopping amid the COVID-19 pandemic has definitely been an interesting experience.
Caroline Clifford, a Comedian and friend, shares her day-to-day shopping experience as a Berliner, her frustration with shoppers not maintaining the mandatory distance and how she has found herself purchasing more online. Interestingly, she also explains how shopping usually works as a type of therapy for her and even in these times, turns to the Lidl aisles for comfort.
Faye Lessler, a Brooklyn based sustainable freelance writer for environmental justice, encourages us to shop as little as possible by knowing how to buy clever and how to make groceries last. She shares the ways in which she is supporting local farmers on a budget and how she is ordering online from local stores and avoiding giving her money to Jeff Bezos.
