The Lord gives commandments, but he also gives council. Many people wonder what the difference is between the two. What are the councils of the Lord, and what are the benefits to following them? Will not following the council of the Lord affect our status of going to heaven, getting a temple recommend, or even being found worthy? Certainly council is good advice, but is it mandatory to follow the council given by the brethren? Do latter day saints follow what has been told to them by prophets of the Lord, or are they simply like ancient Israel that put aside the Lord's council? Find out what council the Lord has given. You may find that you are not following most of it, if any... So why judge others who do the same?
