United States President Joe Biden has announced a donation of 500 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to the world’s poorest countries to help speed the pandemic’s end, with no strings attached.
Biden cast the donation as a bold move that showed the US recognised its responsibility to the world and to its own citizens.
Biden speaking alongside Pfizer Chief Executive Albert Bourla says the vaccine donations don’t include pressure for favours, or potential concessions.
