Although Jackie Robinson is the one remembered by history, older brother Matthew “Mack” Robinson was also an exemplary athlete. In fact, at the 1936 Summer Olympics, when Jesse Owens obliterated the world record for the 200 meter dash, Mack also broke the previously held record.

Since he won the silver medal to Owens’s gold—coming in second by only 0.4 seconds—the elder Robinson’s name failed to make the same mark in history as his brother and his competitor.
