Thanks for reminding us to keep the dream alive. I was brought up in the 50s and 60s and remember seeing the segregation in places like Howard Johnson restaurants where my family watched as a black diplomat was refused service and told to leave. Racism is ugly. Dr. King's message was a message of inclusiveness. Of integration. Of brotherhood. And we were on our way there. But now? What have our children and their children become? What has our system become? A system that increasingly is calling for the segregation of people of European ancestory...and worse. Thanks for reminding us to keep the dream alive. I was brought up in the 50s and 60s and remember seeing the segregation in places like Howard Johnson restaurants in Virginia where my family watched as a black diplomat was refused service and told to leave. Racism is ugly. Dr. King's message was a message of inclusiveness. Of integration. Of brotherhood. And we were on our way there. But now? What have our children and this current generation become? Why are the geriatric liberals in DC and the halls of power who live though that era as did I, why are they stoking the racial divide? What has our system become? A system that increasingly is calling for the segregation and demonization of people of European ancestry...and worse. I Have A Dream was iconic. And yet is seems increasingly that it will be relegated to the dust bin of history although I hope not. I have never seen my friends through the lens of ethnicity nor will I ever. My friends are 'friends.' There is no place racism in a civil society that is truly egalitarian. And I hope beyond hope that the new generations will reject decisiveness and embrace each others as brothers and sisters of this human race. ACR - OwMyNeck
