For the second straight year, the Owens Express Volleyball team is the NJCAA Division III National Champion. The Express swept their way to the program's second consecutive national championship on Saturday evening, defeating conference rival Columbus State 3-0 in the championship match.
#2- Kayla Bekier
2018 Season: Played in 43 matches for the Express. Finished fourth on the team in kills (199). Averaged 1,72 kills per set. Finished with 16 blocked shots during the season.
Prior to Owens: During her senior season at Lake High School, Bekier was an All-NBC and All-District First Team selection.
Sonny Lewis anchors the Owens volleyball coaching staff for the 19th time in 2019, after a record setting 2018, which saw the program win its first ever NJCAA National Championship. Lewis's team defeated defending champion Eastfield 3-2 in a thrilling conclusion to another dominant season for the Express.
