The CEO’s of “Big Pharma” are set to face senators Tuesday who say drug costs are "sky-high" and "out of control." But they don’t need new talking points. Sixty years ago, a different panel of senators held hearings about the same problem. To a striking degree, the subjects likely to surface Tuesday -- high drug prices and profits, limited price transparency, aggressive marketing, alleged patent abuse and mediocre, "me-too" drugs -- are identical to the issues senators investigated decades ago. Each year, the average American household spends $2,279 on real-estate property taxes plus another $440 for residents of the 27 states with vehicle property taxes. With such high costs, it’s no surprise that more than $14 billion in property taxes go unpaid each year, according to the National Tax Lien Association. In order to determine who pays the most relative to their state, the personal-finance website WalletHub released its 2019 Property Taxes by, which compares home and vehicle taxes across the nation and features insights from a panel of experts. State lawmakers are again trying to abolish daylight saving time in Texas, arguing it's antiquated. But supporters of the practice argue it gives Texans a crucial extra hour of light in the evenings during the summer months.
