Bob Frantz in for Jimmy Barrett and Shara Fryer take you through the stories that matter on the morning of 7/25/2018, including: Billionaire Jeff Bezos’s Washington Post is requesting Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross “eliminate” the citizenship question that has been added to the 2020 Census. Since 1950, the citizenship question has not been asked on the full Census, leaving the nation without an exact estimate of how many citizens are in the country and how many noncitizens and illegal aliens are in the country. In a historic move, President Trump’s administration announced the citizenship question would be put back on the census for 2020; Researchers warn that a “Baby Boomer Sell-Off” could flood the housing market. That's a sobering scenario outlined by two new, provocative studies. Baby Boomers -- the giant generation of Americans born between 1946 and 1964 -- own 32 million homes, or 2 in 5 in the country. The generations preceding them occupy another 14 million homes; Slate’s chief political correspondent Jamelle Bouie wrote in an opinion-editorial published Wednesday that journalists are on a mission to weaken the support of Donald Trump’s base, arguing the administration’s economic agenda could a drive wedge between the president and his voters. Reacting to Bouie’s piece, Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe tweeted, “So “journos” are trying to “fracture,” as opposed to INFORM, the public? What an unintentionally honest admission!”; Tax cuts only help the wealthy, right? American paychecks show otherwise. Since Congress passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in December, Uncle Sam has been demanding less from us in tax payments. And as a result, American families across the country are better off now because they are benefiting from bigger paychecks and more jobs. This year alone, the average household in Washington State’s 5th District will see a tax cut of 13 percent and an increase in take-home pay of more than $17,000 over the next 10 years, according to a new study from The Heritage Foundation. President Donald Trump promised a tax cut for the middle class, and that’s just what Congress delivered.
