Jimmy Barrett and Shara Fryer take you through the stories that matter on the morning of 4/26/2018, including: Cracking the Code: There are texting acronyms and abbreviations every parent should know. If your teen has a smartphone, there's a good chance they use them; It is an idea that seems intuitively like it should work. Instead of us all separately driving a car to where we need to go, we'll build some kind of transit system that will take us there. No parking. No traffic. You can read a paper on your way. What's not to like? The problem is that public transit, and especially rail transit, does not work, except in areas with exceptionally high population density. The transit statistics for 2017 just released by the American Public Transit Association (APTA) once again reinforce this lesson; Trump's 'fake news' fight has helped media ratings and readership. President Donald Trump's fight against the media has led to higher than usual ratings even after the election; New TV sitcom "Splitting Up Together," where the parents take turns living in their house with their children. Kind of a trend. When parents divorce, instead of the children schlepping to a different parents locale, the kids stay put and the parents take turns moving in and out, like birds coming and going from the "nest." BUT—it needs to be an amicable divorce, where parents still communicate really well, with a lot of organization and pre-planning to decide who handles what if something goes wrong in the house (appliances, chores—uh, kinda sounds like a marriage to me). Can be beneficial for younger children, or temporary as the divorce or separation is brand new.
