Now it's up to retailers to keep the surge going during the long holiday season. That was a key takeaway for the National Retail Federation, which says more than 165 million consumers browsed at stores or online from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday. That was roughly 1 million more than the number previously projected to shop during the five-day stretch that officially launches the holiday shopping season; A proposed bill in the New York State Senate could mean that anyone wanting to buy a pistol or renew their permit will be subject to a review of their internet history and social media accounts going back up to three years. The bill, referred to as S9191, was drafted by State Senator Kevin Parker from New York’s 21st Congressional District with the intention of keeping firearms out of the hands of potentially violent people; 401ks are taking a beating this year – most are down after seeing dramatic increases last year.
