Have you ever bought something and later had to explain or justify the purchase to your spouse or significant other? Sometimes they get behind your decision and other times you end up in the Doghouse! Sales works the same way. There is someone that the "decision maker" has to confer with, explain or attempt to justify their buying decision before or after they make the purchase. One of the keys to sales success is to help the decision maker positively and confidently explain the product or service you are selling to the person that they need to get buy in from.
