We show that of the ways of leading societies known to mankind that religion is infinitely more effective as it provides all elements necessary for leadership and psychological peace of mind: fear and motivation, sense of belonging and structure and within those it also cleverly uses techniques such as anchoring to immediately enhance sense of well being. Western materialism provides limited fear, motivation is soured into instant gratification and there is increasing lack of sense of belonging and any kind of guidance. Communism lacks motivation but has fear and limited sense of belonging. Politics is not a mechanism of leadership but simply a way of running the state and over time this has been confused with leadership. Indeed the increasing permissiveness and lack of leadership is directly responsible for the infantilisation of large parts of society also known as post modernist political correctness. Society is lacking parenting. However religion cannot be wielded by any leader and certainly not a member of the clergy because what is needed is someone trained to lead who then applies religious principle and is also answerable to his or her higher power. One problem with dictators is that they have no one to answer to and loose perspective. Without guidance and effective leadership we all lapse into individual vested interest.
