show moreNews of the day: Hope you each learned something this week to help you keep the cold and flu out of your future. We talked about different ways to work with your body to breathe, to stimulate your lymphatic system, to engage your core and the importance of hydration. From time to time even with all precautions you catch it! Wonder why? It’s hard to keep track of the germs. They can appear anywhere in your travels and they have different life cycles depending on the germ and the surface where they have been left. The link below comes from the National Health Service out of the UK and is the most recently dated article on the topic.

If you have the crud, work toward avoiding contact with others; stay home and don’t spread it. But how long are you contagious? With the flu you can infect others beginning the day before you feel you have it and for the next 5 to 7 days. With a cold you can be sharing the love even two days before your symptoms start and for another two weeks. What if you have a fever? General rule of thumb is to stay home for a good 24 hours after your fever has cleared. Each cough or sneeze can send germs flying for up to 6 feet. If you are going to cough or sneeze, don’t use your hand, lean into your elbow or use a tissue. The best thing you can do is wash your hands either with soap and water or a hand sanitizer. Clean knobs and counters and other hard surfaces readily available to others as germs seem to last longer on hard surfaces than on things like fabric or tissues. Wishing you all the best as we continue through cold and flu season. Please be courteous to others . . . sharing the love does not include colds and flu. Stay home and get better.
If you want to share any of your go to remedies for cold and flu season, feel free to post them to Facebook at RiversZen Online Community or email at info@riverszen.com or text or call 503-440-3554.
