Welcome to This Edition of RiversZen Today for Friday, October 19th, 2018

The news of the day: This week we have been concentrating on breath and core, the importance of a healthy immune system and finding ease in all we do. If you think about all those actions, it is our expression of mindfulness that plays a key role. The more we think about our motions, actions and behaviors, the more deliberate we will be in working toward improving our breathing, staying hydrated, eating the right foods and exercising our body with the correct moves. Such mindfulness can be meditative. Take the time to experience what you do. So many of us rush through whatever we are doing to get on to the next thing or multitask because we expect so much of ourselves. Take a step back. Whether you relate to the concept of relaxing or becoming more deliberate, make the time to think through your motions whether you are in class or at home; think about your breath, your hydration, your nutrition. Make an effort to be purposeful, cautious and thoughtful. Take that methodical approach and learn more about you. From where do your aches and pains originate? Can you track them? Does developing a practice of self-massage help? Can you improve your breath by pausing from time to time throughout the day and implementing a mini-training session? Maybe adding a hydration break at the same time. Work on a system of reminders throughout the day to make sure you make time for the important things we don’t normally include in our day. These are the additions that will result in a healthier you. You will be surprised when you realize how little time this practice takes out of your “busy” day . . . and don’t be surprised if you find more time when you see how happy your oxygenated, hydrated, nourished body becomes.
