The main part of a skimboard is the center material. The most mainstream center is basic PVC froth known as Divinycell which is a strong, best quality, light, waterproof, high thickness froth more often than not measuring 5/8" to 3/4" thick. A few brands pick polyurethane froth which costs less however can't withstand the rehashed affect persisted by skimboards thus will delaminate and decay the load up after some time.
