Hey there, Who-Heads! Whobies?
Wait. It's Whovians. Right? See, I'm getting this!
This episode was a bit of a gut-punch for someone like me, because my father died about five years ago and I often wonder if anything could have been done to save his life. Rose is in a very different situation than I was, though, because she never knew her father at all and grows up hearing glowing stories about him from her well-intentioned mother, so when she does get to meet him it's a bit of a shock. Rose isn't bringing her own childhood baggage to the relationship the way someone would if they were seeing a parent they had been brought up by...unless you count the baggage of missing out on a hugely important person being in her life.
I'm mostly game to ignore the time dragons and weird issues with the TARDIS needing to be "charged" in this episode, because the performances here were top-notch and deserve all the attention. Let's just say that even Jaime can't explain a lot of that nonsense away.
Thanks to you all for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
