With Stanley Kubrick Month in the rearview mirror, it's time for summer campers, sadistic slashers, and plenty of exploitation excess with Jess Byard June. We kick off the month with one of the few summer camp slasher flicks that was hard to find uncut until recently: The Burning. The film features a cavalcade of then up-and-coming talent who went on to successful careers, including Jason Alexander, Fisher Stevens, and Holly Hunter, along with significant effects work from the legendary Tom Savini. While it doesn't boast the most memorable villain or the most original plot, it's a worthy entry in the summer camp slasher subgenre. We talk Cropsy's weapon of choice, the film's sense of style, and whether it deserves the praise it gets.
The Projection Booth's Mike White joins Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, to talk The Burning, Cropsy, Tom Savini, and so much more.
