Body Horror July nears its conclusion with the film that helped launch the career of one of the most prolific filmmakers of all time, while serving up some of the most creative gore in cinema history: Peter Jackson's Dead Alive (aka Braindead). Shy Lionel falls for the lovely Paquita, only to find that his overbearing mother has become an undead ghoul determined to thwart their romance even from beyond the grave. It's an inventively gory, over-the-top bloodfest that uses every inch of the human body in disgustingly hilarious fashion, with a final act that is near bloody perfection. We chat about Jackson's filmography before and since, the film's climax, and an interesting connection to Sam Raimi.
The Projection Booth's Mike White joins Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, to talk Dead Alive, Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi, and so much more.
