In this edition of The Onco’Zine Brief Peter Hofland talks with Dr. Paul Berggreen and Dr. Daniel Jondle, both from Arizona Digestive Health, in Phoenix, Arizona, about Colorectal Cancer.

Today’s program is the first of a 3-part series about the disease, which is the third most common cancer diagnosed in the United States. Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cause of death from cancers that affect both men and women. And the disease affects people in all racial and ethnic groups and is most common in people age 50 and older.

But in many cases the disease is preventable.

And during the National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month a lot will be said about screening.

If everyone age 50 and older got regular screenings, 6 out of 10 deaths from colorectal cancer could be prevented. Hence, communities, health professionals, and families are encouraged to work together to increase the number of people to be screened.
