Proverbs 18:21 (NET)
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love its use will eat its fruit."

Who told you that you were ugly and fat?
Who told you my child? Who told you that?
Who told you that you were stupid and weird?
Who filled you with hate, doubt, and fear?

Who stole your smile, my beautiful child?
Come in, sit down, let’s talk a while.
Who told you that you didn’t matter?
Who tore your heart and left you shattered?

Who told you that you were naked my friend;
Have you eaten from the tree of sin?
When God knocks and calls your name;
Why do you hide? Why is there shame?

Who told you to kill your husband or wife;
To end it all with a gun or knife?
Who told you there was no heaven or hell?
Who beat you, raped you, and said “Don’t tell!”

Who told you that it was o.k.
to believe that God created you gay?
Who told you that crack would ease your sorrow?
Who told you to live like there's no tomorrow?

Who told you that you couldn’t be blessed;
That you couldn’t escape this financial mess?
Who told you that you would never succeed;
That you would always lack and be in need ?
Who killed the dream God placed in you
and made you doubt what He told you to do?

The light that once burned strong and bright
now flickers in the dark of night!
The voice of cancer threatens your life,
Stabbing your peace like a muderer's knife!

Who told you not to forgive your brother;
To focus on you and forget about others;
To put God and His word on a shelf;
To surround yourself with success and wealth!

I know who told you all these things,
It certainly wasn't the King of kings!
The enemy's words steal and kill.
He’ll do what it takes to abort God’s will!

Your heart has grown hard and cold.
You carry a heavy, weary load!
Your emotions are like a trodden down road.
You’re confused about which way to go!

Your thoughts are under constant attack;
Satan's words give you no slack!
You make a fist and try to fight,
But Satan is stronger than human might!

You often say “Why should I try?”
“Why should I live? Why not die?’
“At least in death I’ll have release!’
“My soul longs to be at peace!”

Because of turmoil deep inside,
You flirt with thoughts of suicide!
Liquor and gambling are all in vain,
They only increase your internal pain!

Words of death and words of life.
Words of peace and words of strife.
The voice of God and the voice of sin;
The struggle of the soul within!

Whose report will you believe?
Whose thoughts and ways have you received?
Are they from our Lord above,
And produce His peace, joy, and love?

People of God close your ears;
Drown out the voice of death and fear!
Call out to God and He’ll draw near
to heal your pain and dry your tears!

Words affect the old and young.
Death and life are within the tongue.
Confess God's word over you
Say what He say and do what He do!

His servant,
