Story Transcript:

It: Era una giornata calda e soleggiata e Marco e Sofia avevano deciso di trascorrere la loro giornata nella bellissima Piazza del Campo.
En: It was a warm and sunny day and Marco and Sofia had decided to spend their day in the beautiful Piazza del Campo.

It: Marco aveva comprato un delizioso gelato e si era seduto su una panchina per cominciare a gustarselo.
En: Marco had bought a delicious ice cream and sat down on a bench to start enjoying it.

It: Ma appena aveva preso il primo boccone, un gruppo di gabbiani erano scesi dall'alto e avevano cominciato a circondarlo.
En: But as soon as he took his first bite, a group of seagulls descended from above and began to surround him.

It: Marco cercava di scacciarli, ma i gabbiani erano troppo numerosi e grazie alle loro ali riuscivano a scivolare via ogni volta che Marco cercava di prenderli.
En: Marco tried to chase them away, but the seagulls were too numerous and thanks to their wings they managed to slip away every time Marco tried to catch them.

It: Sofia rideva divertita, ma Marco cominciava a perdere la pazienza.
En: Sofia laughed in amusement, but Marco was beginning to lose patience.

It: "Grrrr, questi maledetti gabbiani!"
En: "Grrrr, those damn seagulls!"

It: esclamò Marco.
En: Marco exclaimed.

It: Sofia provò a intervenire.
En: Sofia tried to intervene.

It: "Proviamo a spostarci in un altro posto?".
En: "Shall we try to move to another place?".

It: Ma a Marco non piaceva lasciarsi sconfiggere.
En: But Marco didn't like letting himself be defeated.

It: "No, non voglio che questi gabbiani mi rubino il mio gelato.
En: "No, I don't want these seagulls stealing my ice cream.

It: Devo trovare un modo per tenerli lontani."
En: I have to find a way to keep them away."

It: Marco guardò intorno e scattò all'improvviso un'idea.
En: Marco looked around and suddenly an idea snapped.

It: Prese un piccolo pezzo di pane dalla sua borsa e lo gettò lontano.
En: He took a small piece of bread from his bag and threw it away.

It: I gabbiani si precipitarono sul pezzo di pane, abbandonando il gelato di Marco.
En: The seagulls rushed to the piece of bread, abandoning Marco's ice cream.

It: Marco ne prese subito un altro boccone, ma questa volta fu ancora più veloce, sorprendendo i gabbiani.
En: Marco immediately took another bite, but this time he was even faster, surprising the seagulls.

It: Sofia rideva ancora di più vedendo la scena.
En: Sofia laughed even more seeing the scene.

It: Ma il gioco del gatto e del topo continuò per un po', con Marco che cercava di difendere il suo gelato e i gabbiani che cercavano di rubarlo.
En: But the game of cat and mouse continued for a while, with Marco trying to defend his ice cream and the seagulls trying to steal it.

It: Marco provò ancora una volta a lanciare del pane lontano, ma questa volta non funzionò.
En: Marco tried once again to throw some bread away, but this time it didn't work.

It: I gabbiani erano troppo attaccati al gelato di Marco ormai per lasciarlo andare.
En: The seagulls were too attached to Marco's ice cream to let go.

It: Ma proprio quando sembrava che i gabbiani avessero vinto, un altro gruppo di turisti arrivò in Piazza del Campo, portando con sé una grande quantità di cibo.
En: But just when it seemed the seagulls had won, another group of tourists arrived in the Piazza del Campo, bringing with them a large amount of food.

It: I gabbiani si sollevarono in massa e volarono via, lasciando Marco e Sofia finalmente in pace.
En: The seagulls rose en masse and flew away, leaving Marco and Sofia at last in peace.

It: "Wow, grazie a quei turisti siamo stati salvati!"
En: "Wow, thanks to those tourists we were saved!"

It: disse Marco, sorridendo.
En: Marco said, smiling.

It: Sofia annuì e scherzò, "Beh, almeno hai imparato la lezione.
En: Sofia nodded and joked, "Well, at least you learned your lesson.

It: Non si deve mai lasciare incustodito il proprio gelato con i gabbiani intorno!"
En: You should never leave your ice cream unattended with seagulls around!"

It: Marco rise, ma sapeva bene che la prossima volta sarebbe stato preparato.
En: Marco laughed, but he knew very well that next time he would be prepared.

It: E così, con una nuova saggezza acquisita, i due amici tornarono a godersi la loro giornata nella splendida Piazza del Campo.
En: And so, with a newfound wisdom, the two friends returned to enjoy their day in the splendid Piazza del Campo.
