In this episode, I teach you everything you need to know about trigger warnings: what they are, what they aim to do, and what research has to say about it all.

Trigger warnings are well-meaning efforts to consider the effects of discussing heavy topics. But study after study has shown that trigger warnings have no positive effect on mental health for anyone, let alone people experiencing PTSD. Trigger warnings are a direct violation of what psychologists teach us about trauma, harm, and healing. This episode is a brief, intriguing look at how I came to the conclusion that trigger warnings do more harm than good.
