Welcome to the first episode of our new series: Amplify Our Voices. A space where we investigate and educate on what is happening to our planet and communities so we can collectively work together as individuals and companies to drive change.
Amplify Our Voices for Pakistan: How Consumers and Brands Should Calibrate Efforts Toward Climate Emergency
The catastrophic floods that have struck Pakistan in recent months make it clear that the devastating impact of climate change is of concern today. The scale of this disaster is unprecedented: flooding has affected an area of land the size of the entire United Kingdom and displaced more than 33 million people, almost the population of California. This natural disaster is the direct result of climate change, which has accelerated the rate at which Pakistan’s glaciers are melting and exacerbated extreme weather events. Pakistan produces less than 1% of global carbon emissions yet it is one of the top 10 countries most impacted by climate change.
Sustainability and social responsibility are core values for Trove and our partners, so we have been looking for ways to help. We have identified organizations working at the frontlines supporting climate refugees by providing them shelter, food, access to healthcare, and education as a more extensive rehabilitation effort is underway.
