Luke 24 describes the events following Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection. The chapter begins with the discovery of the empty tomb by the women who had come to prepare Jesus' body for burial. These women are greeted by two angels who tell them that Jesus has risen from the dead. The women then go to tell the disciples, but initially their story is met with disbelief. Later, Jesus appears to two disciples walking along the road to Emmaus, but they do not recognize him until he breaks bread with them. When they return to Jerusalem and tell the other disciples what has happened, Jesus appears among them and shows them his wounds as proof of his resurrection. He then leads them to Bethany where he blesses them and ascends into heaven.
