In Episode 23 of The Aftermath Podcast, it is the return of the king as Amazon’s huge-budget Lord of the Rings Show is unveiled to the world. But first, John, Oaksoe and Usaama discuss and react to DC’s We Need Heroes Super Bowl Spot. Stay tuned for our opinions on the modern climate of cinema, where superheroes dominate, what makes an anime enjoyable for us and more!

Usaama admits his excitement for The Batman after only seeing the first official trailer, joining John and Oaksoe’s anticipation for the soon-to-arrive Seven-like blockbuster flick.

Black Adam made an immediate impact on us in the Super Bowl teaser. From the few visuals we go to see alone, surely Dwyane Johnson’s production company took notes from Zack Snyder, who was at the helm of the DCEU’s birth in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. Hawkeye and Dr Fate are awesome and visually striking in that regard in particular.

What does Black Adam mean for the tone of the DCEU? The Flash, which we saw a little more on as well, will give us this answer, but with the movie being far away from its November release, let us trust in IT director Andy Muschietti to do his thing.

As for Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, well… we don’t exactly DIVE in too DEEP on that one! We really enjoyed the first Aquaman though, for what it was, a simply fun adventure.

We then talk about Anime and Manga art styles that draw us in, and what story elements appeal to us. This includes Black Lagoon’s appeal to Usaama; and GTO and My Hero Academia’s to John, of which anime expert Oak Soe questioned!
