So many of us feel conflicted and unhappy with the way we lead at work. Being the leader you were designed to be should not be a struggle.

It is an opportunity to let people see that you can love your work and family and use the skills you bring to positively impact the lives of people around you.

Leadership exists for others. It is lived on the inside and manifested in the action of our work. This means we need to know ourselves before we can lead with authenticity. We must understand what it takes to lead and be willing to play our part. We owe leadership a lot more than just showing up to give our best in our work. We should rise together by helping others and supporting our colleagues. That being said, we are not defined by our work and success alone.

Leadership, whether in fundraising, business, or any other area, is a happy place when you keep your focus on your “why.” Doing this will help you make meaningful progress in whatever you’re doing, and ensure that you’re doing it with the people with whom you share mutual respect, whom you value and who value you.

In this episode, Shanna Hocking, leadership consultant, philanthropic advisor, and keynote speaker, talks about becoming the leader you are designed to be in your workplace. She also expounds on how you can find your breakthrough in fundraising and asking for funds to fulfill your mission.

“Successful leaders are lifelong learners, and it’s something that we can all create for ourselves.”
