So often, we feel intimidated and fearful when starting something new. If other people aren’t doing it, it can feel impossible to achieve. So many of us are afraid to try something new, it’s easy to let that stop us from trying. But moving past your fears and doing it anyway is the key to success. The path will be difficult and imperfect, but that is part of the learning process and the rewards are so worth it.

Making your passion possible is all about taking action, making mistakes, refining your technique, and figuring out how to improve your strategy the next time you do it. Start by doing your due diligence and research to test what people care about and what they are looking for to ensure that your idea is profitable before taking the leap.

Your business is your baby, so you want to ensure you know what you're getting into. In the beginning, you will probably have to wear all the hats, but learning to ask for help as you progress is what will help you move your business forward. Knowing what you are good at and getting help in the things you are not passionate about will help maintain your energy and work on growing your business.

In this episode, Phantila Phataraprasit, co-founder and CEO of Sabal Design, talks about why she left her career in Law to create Sabal Design. She also shares how you can make a leap and succeed in something you are passionate about, even when it’s completely different from what you are currently doing.

“The process of making it possible is just doing it, refining it, and figuring out how to do it smoothly.”

About Phantila Phataraprasit -

Phantila Phataraprasit is the co-founder and CEO of Sabai Design, a sustainable furniture company with the mission to make conscious living accessible through ethically sourced, vegan, and made in the USA home staples. At just 28, Phataraprasit is revolutionizing the world of home furnishings by creating beautiful pieces that reflect beautiful values in consumers' homes.

Growing up in Thailand, surrounded by the eco-lodge work of her mother, sustainability has always been a core value in her life. After coming to the U.S., attending Columbia University, working at Morgan Stanley, and earning a law degree from NYU, she founded Sabai in 2019. Sabai was inspired by her own commitment to sustainable living, and struggle to find low-impact, ethically-sourced, and affordable furniture as a young professional.

In 2021, Phantila helped Sabai expand its sustainability efforts through launching an end of life cycle initiative called the Sabai Standard, including the first closed loop furniture program in the United States, which was honored by Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas & Innovation by Design Awards. She also helped establish Sabai’s Repair Don’t Replace program, allowing consumers to refresh pieces with individually sold parts to keep unnecessary new purchases and product waste to a bare minimum.

In 2021, she was also recognized as one of Inc. Magazine’s 100 Female Founders for how she’s revolutionizing the home furnishing industry. Phantila has since joined the Board of the Sustainable Furnishings Council as its youngest member.
