My guest this week is author David Hoon Kim, a Korean-born American educated in France, who writes in both French and English. David’s work has been published in The New Yorker, Le Sabord, and Brèves, among others. His linked story collection "Paris is a Party, Paris is a Ghost” lives in a dreamlike Paris where we can’t always trust our senses, and was described by Buzzfeed as “a brilliant and absurd meditation on what it means to be haunted.”

In our conversation, David discusses the connection between self-identity and ghosts, how the language he writes in guides his subject matter, how to create a world both of magic and of the “real,” and so much more. Does he believe in magic?

Then, he treats us to a reading of “Paris is a Party, Paris is a Ghost.”

About Us
Since well before Victor Hugo looked up at Notre Dame and thought, "Huh... what if a hunchback lived in there?" authors have been inspired by Paris. The Storytime in Paris podcast will help keep this tradition alive with short interviews and readings from your favorite contemporary authors with a French connection.

Every episode will feature five questions, asked by you, our authors' biggest fans, and answered live on air. Then, our authors will treat us to a reading of an excerpt from their book. Who knows? Maybe you'll even be inspired to write your own Great French Novel. Happy listening!
