Just to prove I’m not batshit crazy for taking the Journey Inward and can participate as a functioning member of society anytime I want, I interviewed author J.C. Hallman in July of 2021. J.C. Hallman is a triple threat of extremely important right now and tomorrow subject matter. We discuss his recent review of Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit and first novel The Chess Artist: Genius, Obsession, and the World’s Oldest Game.

Cult and Scientology watchers everywhere will take an interest in Hallman’s The Devil Is a Gentleman: Exploring America’s Religious Fringe—a book which chronicles his chapter by chapter tour of American fringe religions from the Moonies to Satanism—and infiltrating Scientology using a cover persona.

The Anarcha Quest, soon to be published, is based on Hallman’s extensive research and discovered records of Anarcha, the enslaved Black woman and human subject on whom the controversial “father of modern gynecology” performed extensive experimental surgery.

J.C. Hallman talks religious interpretation of Scientology’s Fair Game policy, Swedenborgians, Yoga, Paganism, and drops the neato factoid that Chiropractics, very much alive and well today, actually came from a now dissolved religion.

Most importantly, I ask J.C. Hallman how he feels about being a total failure at Scientology.

Due to the conversational and spontaneous aspect of this interview, not all content is fact checked or accurate-such as when I grossly miscalculate David Miscavige’s age. Please proceed at your discretion.
