To be a leader means to be a servant, as you are praying for your leaders this week, we want to ask God to lead you to the those leaders who are servants, we are willing to give of themselves without seeking reciprocity. In fact true leaders in the church should serve as if not model the role of a Deacon. One of my great joys and privilege's in this life were the years I spent serving as a deacon. It is among the most honorable offices in the church and a worthy vocation and calling. Deacon served in the line of the Levites, ensuring the care of the church, both the building and the body.
1Timothy 3:8-13
Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus. Servant managers understand the importance of modeling the kind of behavior they would like to see demonstrated by their teams. A manager does not exist for the benefit of receiving service from those in there direct line of supervision. Rather managers exist to serve those in their direct line of responsibility. The servant manager understands the best way to get the necessary results and performance from their team is to serve in a capacity that allows their team to function at their very best.
