Coming off the heels of the anniversary of the March on Washington and the lynching of Emmett Till, host Cartier Georgette and guest Jayde Allon compare and contrast today’s racial violence with yesterday’s. They address the trauma that Black people experience and how it impacts everyday life, including for kids, their education. Jayde, who has a Masters in Education with a concentration in Special Education is a teacher in Brooklyn, relays some of her experiences of the current inequities and inequalities that Black kids have to face in school, including working hard to compete with white privilege. Sadly, during the recording of the podcast, Cartier and Jayde are alerted to the passing of Chadwick Boseman from colon cancer. May he rest in power.
