Hey!

We are so excited to share our panel on Women in True Crime with you, recorded in Chicago during our trip over for the True Crime Podcast Festival.

Our wonderful guests joined us for a truly fascinating discussion. We covered our thoughts on why women are the largest consumers of true crime, why the victim hood we cover is largely female and our guests feelings on the notion of 'glorifying' the subject matter and their responsibility towards the victims and survivors in the cases we cover.

Massive thanks go to Kate, Alysa and Justin for being panellists, the audience for joining us and our listeners for sending us their questions. Also thanks to the Arrogant Frog for hosting us and sorting us out drinks! Appreciated.

Thanks all, we hope you enjoy!

Notes from this weeks episode:
Kate's (Ignorance Was Bliss) bio: Kate has spent her entire professional life in the fields of mental health and criminal justice with a focus specifically in the fields of correctional psychology, forensic psychology, and crisis assessment. Since 2014, she has been on disability due to a broken back. She still had things to say, though, so in 2018, started a podcast. Her challenge and goal is to make weird things seem normal, whether that means serial murder or chronic anxiety. Find out more at iwbpodcast.com.

Justin's (Generation Why) bio: The Generation Why Podcast released its first episode in 2012 and pioneered the true crime genre in the podcasting world. Two friends, Aaron & Justin, break down theories and give their opinions on unsolved murders, controversies, mysteries and conspiracies.Justin also hosts The Peripheral, an interview style podcast that covers topics that impact our everyday lives yet stay on the peripheral.

Alysa's (Fataliteas) bio: Alysa is an Assistant Professor of Communication at Central Michigan University where she teaches classes in Interpersonal Communication, Dark Side of Interpersonal Communication, Lying & Deception, and Gender Communication. She hosts a true crime podcast where her friends join her to discuss cases discussed with them called Fataliteas and a podcast about friendships called Best Forevers: A Podcast for Kindred Spirits. She believes that everyone deserves to be happy, healthy, and safe, and this mantra guides her personal life, teaching, research, and podcasts.
