From the cognitive biases mentioned in this episode, I am vulnerable to illusory truth effect and confirmation bias, that I tend to believe based on my gut feeling without investigating the facts. Yes, indeed the reason behind this is because my brain is lazy sometimes, I avoid thinking about the complex situation, and rather go with the things that are easy to swallow. Thanks for sharing this episode, I learned that in every situation we are in, we need to gather and go through the decision-making processes to protect ourselves from misinformation.

Great episode. One of the most effective strategies is to build up a habit of automatically considering alternative possibilities to any claim you hear, especially claims that feel comfortable to you. But since our lazy brain’s default setting is to avoid questioning claims, which required hard thinking, it really helps to develop a mental practice of going against this default. I took the Pro-truth pledge and am so happy I did. Thanks for the tip! Every word counts here.
