This month, we are joined by Chanin Santini, the Care, Treatment, and Rehabilitation Service (CTRS) Program Manager and Site Supervisor with the VA Greater Los Angeles Health Care System to learn about how her program uses tiny shelters to create low-barrier services for unhoused Veterans. Ms. Santini talks about how CTRS got it start during the COVID-19 pandemic, how it draws from low-barrier principles to make shelter accessible, and why (in contrast to other programs with vacant beds) it always stays full. Veterans who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness are strongly encouraged to contact the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans at (877) 4AID-VET (877-424-3838) for assistance.
@Gordon Clinkscales, Thank you for your service, and we appreciate you sharing your experience in this forum. Your comments are poignant, and we are sincerely sorry to hear about the pain and difficult situation you are dealing with. We contacted your local VA facility, and someone will reach out to you (if not already) to help address your concerns.”
