Key Lessons:
1) Think about managing up as a way of “joining upward” and partnering with your leadership.
2) Take a step back and listen closely to how leaders talk about their pain points – what are their struggles, what might they be stressed about, what are they watching or tracking, and what are their drivers. Once you do this ask yourself, “what is my role in providing solutions and helping my leader overcome this?”
3) Ensure your approach is focused on listening, learning, empathy, and understanding.
