Kindness matters. Not just because it's a "nice thing to say" or masked as a way to avoid pain and the hard stuff. Kindness matters. In the research on shame, feelings of shame and being overly negative actually don't create change in the long-run, and often keep people stuck. So when we are looking to make change, make hard decisions, or responding to those who are being negative -- kindness matters. There is a lot of hurt out there -- we all have it inside of us, some more so than others, some we've caused to others. However, when we do things from a place of hurt, we often end up creating more hurt and pain. Kindness still means and empowers healthy boundaries, advocacy, and change. Kindness is not weak. For me, boundaried kindness is what happens when my ego and insecurities aren't driving the bus. Kindness is healing (or at least provides that opportunity even if the other person isn't in a place to absorb it). Kindness matters.
