Paul McVeigh is an ex-Professional footballer who made over 300 appearances during a twenty-year playing career. He played at the very highest level in the Premier League for clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Burnley and Norwich City. He won two league championships and represented his country Northern Ireland at full international level, 40 times.
Paul is the first person in history to enjoy a professional playing career in the English Premier League and hold a Masters in sports psychology.

He’s the Author of the book “The Stupid Footballer is Dead”, runs a Personal Development training company called ThinkPRO, is a TV and media pundit and an acclaimed key-note speaker.

If anyone is positioned to understand the mental side of the beautiful game, it’s Paul.
He grew up on the streets of Belfast during the troubles of the 1980’s, before his footballing talents were discovered by Tottenham Hotspur and a move to the Capital beckoned. Aged just 16, Paul had to learn how to cope with being in a squad with global superstars and world cup winners, a harsh and brutal learning curve that had no manual to refer to.

Ironically, it was a book that he did read which catapulted him towards a life and career built upon mental fortitude. He realised very quickly that by mastering the advice in Tony Robbins “Awaken the Giant Within”, that whilst life didn’t become any easier, it became a whole lot clearer and that everything he needed to achieve his life-goals were based on his Mindset.
We talk in the podcast about some of the games’ superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo and how they too have developed a mental blueprint for success. Likewise, we discuss why so few professional teams use Performance Psychology to support their progress, despite spending millions on players who are left to ‘think for themselves’.
