My guest this week, Dr. Anne Rathbone Bradley, the free market economist and moral philosopher, wants to sit down with Bernie Sanders over a cup of coffee to talk about how to achieve the goals he proclaims. There’s a right way and a wrong way, and he’s not going to get there the way he’s going.
“We need to stop villainizing people based on ideology and I would say, ‘Hey, I agree with you, I don't want the poor to be poor and I don't want the rich to be able to exploit’ but the question is the how. And I don’t think he knows how.”
“What is the way to make the poor rich and raise the incomes of everyone? This is a real concern that we all should have. He's right about that. But the how is very different. To me, what economics demonstrates, is that the past 250 years of human history have showed us is that markets empower ordinary people,” said Anne.
Anne is a professor at the Institute for World Politics and George Mason University. She is Vice President of Economic Initiatives at the Institute for Faith, Work, and Economics and is author of “Counting the Cost: Christian Perspectives on Capitalism.”
Listen here as Dr. Anne Bradley and I explain why markets lead to prosperity and a better life while government intrusion creates poverty and misery.
