We make up stories about ourselves and others every day all day. For the most part these stories are untrue and can cause disconnection. In this Chai Talk we discuss why our brains are wired to make up stories, how to stop the process, and how to choose compassion over shame. We tie story-making into healing family relationships so that we are in charge of the story instead of allowing the story to divide. Enjoy!

This was a GREAT Chai Talk, Jen! full of so much truth! I use to make up stories of what "might be going on", often imagining that whatever was going on was my fault. I then switched my perspective to learning the lesson in t moment. This year, one of my resolutions, was to walk into situations blindly. By that I mean I walk in without expectation of what will happen, without judgement of others, without playing out scenarios in my mind,e tc. OMG! I was amazed at how freeing it felt! I also didn't engage in others' ego statements. If I notice a trigger statement from someone else, I breathe & don't react. WOW! I am in SUCH a better place now. I was so excited about this year before it began & I am now so excited about what lies ahead. I get excited about not knowing what might/could happen, because I don't need to be in control of anything anymore or anticipate what I think will probably happen. Talk about total freedom! Jen, thank you so much for the work that you do & sharing your insights & thoughts. You are definitely where you need to be! ❤
