An MBTA Orange Line train caught on fire while approaching Somerville’s Assembly Station and chaos erupted as passengers kicked through windows and jumped out of the train with one woman even jumping off the bridge the train was on and into the Mystic River below. Governor Baker called the fire a “colossal failure” by the MBTA. The co-chair of the Joint Committee on Transportation, Representative William Straus said, “The T, as an organization, isn’t necessarily worth saving.” Dan spoke with Representative Straus about the current state of the MBTA.
