28 AUG 2023 · Although the Venice Art Biennale has been running since 1895, the first Architecture Biennale was only inaugurated in 1980. It took eleven more years for the National Pavilions to be invited to participate, and it was then that the Israeli architecture exhibitions started to take place. In accordance with The Laboratory of the Future, on view between 20.5-26.11.2023, tune in for a brief introduction to Israel’s participation in the Venice Architecture Biennale. Nathalie Andrijasevic is an assistant curator of Modern Art and 16th-19th century European Art at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. She obtained her Masters in Art History and Visual Culture with Curatorial Studies from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva. She is a lecturer at TAMA and for the Italian Cultural Institute in Israel. Recent exhibitions include Alberto Giacometti: Beginning, Again; My Name is Maryan; The Building: 50 Years and Hey! 21 AUG 2023 · The Italian photographer Tina Modotti holds an important place in the international panorama of experimental photography during the first half of the 20th century. After having emigrated from Udine to California at the age of 17, she took her first steps as an artist in the world of cinema and, thanks to her encounter with Edward Weston, she learned the fundamentals of photographic techniques which she would develop independently throughout the decade 1920-1930, revealing her extraordinary talent. In 1923 she moved to Mexico City with Weston. Here she specializes in the representation of diversity and poverty that she always describes with truthfulness and spontaneity. In her photos, she represented the Mexican world and vernacular culture with the sensitivity and freedom that is uniquely proper to those who have lived "beyond the boundaries" personally. Together with other great American and Mexican protagonists of contemporary art and photography - such as Dorothea Lange, Lee Miller Penrose, Imogen Cunningham, Tina Modotti is considered a visionary artist who stood out as a passionate, independent, and exemplary artist for her time and for the generations to come. Today, Tina Modotti is considered to be a cultural icon, like Frida Kahlo, Georgia O'Keefe, Diane Arbus and many other artists her age. She has finally been vindicated and recognized in the history of art and by contemporary criticism. Dominique Lora, curator of “Tina Modotti. Here and Now” together with Yair Barak, leads us to the discovery of the Italian photographer on the occasion of the photo-exhibition hosted at Artspace in Tel Aviv in July 2023 with the aim of deepening one of the protagonists of the artistic and poetic experiments that characterized the first avant-gardes of the 20th century.

14 AUG 2023 · To retrace, through art, the birth of the State of Israel and its deep connection with Italy, which was powerfully revealed thanks to the cultural ferment that characterized our country in the postwar period. With this in mind, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of the State of Israel, the Jewish Community of Rome and the Foundation for the Jewish Museum of Rome, in collaboration with the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, present the exhibition “Rome 1948 – Italian Art Toward Israel”, curated by Davide Spagnoletto and Giorgia Calò, open to the public from April 27 to October 10, 2023. Thanks to an exceptional loan from the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, a selection of about twenty works by painters and sculptors who in the aftermath of the proclamation of the State of Israel took the lead in an initiative that will go down in history: the “Exhibition of Art Pro-New State of Israel,” an exhibition that took place between June 15 and 25, 1948 in the Galleria d’Arte Antica Palazzo Torlonia. In this podcast’s episode, curators Giorgia Calò and Davide Spagnoletto further deepen "Rome 1948 – Italian Art Toward Israel" telling us how the idea of this exhibition was born, the works shown in the Jewish Museum in Rome, and so much more. 3 AUG 2023 · הסופר, העיתונאי, המשורר והמתרגם האיטלקי, ארי דה לוקה, משלב בדרך קבע מחויבות חברתית בכתיבה שלו ועוסק לעתים קרובות בסוגיות הקשורות להגירה. ברבים מכתביו, מבקש דה לוקה לעורר מודעות בנושאים כגון זרמי הנדידה הגדולים והאקלים ההיסטורי העדין השורר כיום באגן הים התיכון. בהקשר זה מתמקם השיר "בשביל דגי הים תיכון", אותו חיבר המשורר במרץ 2023 על מנת לזכור את קורבנות הים בכלל והאסון שהתרחש בקוטרו, בפרט. כי השיר נכתב כתגובה לאירוע טרגי שקרה בלילה שבין ה-25 ל-26 בפברואר 2023, כאשר 80 מתוך 180 המהגרים שהצטופפו בענייה מעץ קטנה שיצאה לים מטורקיה, טבעו למוות במרחק של מאות מטרים ספורים מחוף סטקאטו די קוטרו שבקלבריה. 33 מהקורבנות היו ילדים וביניהם רבים היו בני מספר חודשים עד 12 שנה. בימים אלה, תורגם השיר לעברית על ידי מרים שוסטרמן פדובאנו וכעת ניתן להאזין לו בקולה של המתרגמת, בפרק חדש לסדרת הפודקאסטים "קולות מהמכון האיטלקי לתרבות בחיפה". יוזמתם של המכונים האיטלקיים לתרבות של תל אביב וחיפה, הסדרה נותנת במה למגוון קולות מן התרבות האיטלקית. כל הפודקאסטים זמינים בספוטיפיי ובשפרייקר. האזנה ערווה!

10 JUL 2023 · אדריאנו אוליבטי הוא אחת הדמויות הייחודיות והיוצאות דופן של המאה העשרים. יזם, תעשיין, אינטלקטואל ופוליטיקאי, אבל גם מוציא לאור, חדשן חברתי ומבשר תכנון ערים. מ-1932 עד 1960 הוא עמד בראש החברה באותו שם המייצרת מכונות כתיבה ומוצרי משרד שנוסדה על ידי אביו קמילו ב-1908, שהופכה לחברה בינלאומית מפורסמת ולמילה הנרדפת למצוינות וחדשנות. תערוכת "אוליבטי – לא רק מכונות כתיבה" הוקדשה לסיפורו של אחד המותגים התעשייתיים המצליחים של המאה העשרים, והוצגה בגלריה ויטרינה ב-HIT-המכון הטכנולוגי חולון, בין התאריכים 16 בפברואר עד 2 במאי 2023. בתערוכה היצגו לא רק מוצרים האייקונים, כמו מכונות כתיבה, מכונות חישוב והמחשבים הראשונים, אלא גם מערכת הפרסום והגרפיקה החדשנית של אוליבטי, עם פוסטרים ופרסומות החתומים על ידי המעצבים האיטלקיים המפורסמים ביותר. "אוליבטי – לא רק מכונות כתיבה" הייתה גם הזדמנות לתערוכה מקבילה "הפוסטרים מהקמפיינים הפרסומיים של חברת אוליבטי: תרבות העיצוב האיטלקי בעולם" במכללת תילתן לעיצוב ולתקשורת חזותית בחיפה, המוקדשת לפוסטרים של קמפיינים פרסומיים של אוליבטי ומאורגנת על ידי המכון האיטלקי לתרבות בחיפה. התערוכה שנחנכה במרץ האחרון ופתוחה עד 30 ביוני 2023, נפתחה בהרצאה שאצר יאשה רוזוב. למידע נוסף על עולם אוליבטי, בפרק חדש בסדרת ההסכתים Voices from IIC Haifa [קולות מהמכון האיטלקי לתרבות בחיפה], האוצר עברי באומגרטן, אוצרת גלריה ויטרינה, ד"ר דליה מנור והמעצב הגרפי של התערוכה, יאשה רוזוב, מספרים את סיפורה הייחודי של חברה שהצטיינה בשל חדשנות חוצה גבולות, חזון תאגידי ומהפכניות באופן שבו המושג "מותג" נתפש, נבנה ונצרך עד היום. האזנה ערבה!

31 JAN 2023 · Chi è Marion Baruch? Artista e attivista per i diritti umani, Marion Baruch nasce a Timisoara nel 1929. A soli vent’anni fugge dalla Romania stalinista per trovare rifugio in Israele, dove ha la possibilità di studiare presso la Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design di Gerusalemme. In poco tempo, entra a far parte dei circoli delle avanguardie di Tel Aviv e a soli 24 anni tiene la sua prima mostra personale presso la Micra Gallery a Tel Aviv. Ottiene una borsa di studio e sceglie di studiare in Italia, attratta dal mito di Giotto: si trasferisce prima a Roma, per studiare all’Accademia di Belle Arti, e poi a Milano, dove ha ufficialmente inizio la sua lunga carriera. Ad introdurre la figura di Marion Baruch è lo storico e critico Fulvio Irace, che ne ripercorre la vita: ne emerge una figura cosmopolita, che ha viaggiato per l’Europa durante gli anni più bui tra le due guerre, attraversando la ricostruzione del secondo dopoguerra e i giorni più caldi delle rivolte studentesche del ’68. Per Cognetti, i libri possono aiutarci a superare le sfide che minacciano di rendere il mondo un posto sempre più fragile, tra crisi climatica e guerre, se decidiamo di affidarci alle parole e agli insegnamenti dei grandi maestri della letteratura legati alla natura e alla montagna, come Mario Rigoni Stern. Attraverso le sue opere, Mario Rigoni Stern ci ha mostrato come gli uomini possano restare uomini dimenticando di essere soldati e non ascoltando le volontà imposte dall’alto che ordinano di essere nemici, ma soprattutto ci ha insegnato ad ascoltare i nostri cuori, che ci suggeriscono sempre di essere fratelli. Lingua: italiano Paolo Cognetti è nato a Milano nel 1978. Ha esordito con alcune raccolte di racconti pubblicate da minimum fax. Ha scritto Il ragazzo selvatico (Terre di Mezzo, 2013), Le otto montagne (Einaudi, 2016), Senza mai arrivare in cima (Einaudi, 2018) e La felicità del lupo (Einaudi, 2021). Nel 2021 ha curato L’Antonia su Antonia Pozzi (Ponte alle Grazie). Sempre nel 2021 esce, sia come film-documentario sia in forma di podcast, Paolo Cognetti. Sogni di Grande Nord. Con Le otto montagne, che è stato tradotto in oltre 40 Paesi e dal quale è stato tratto un film vincitore del Premio della giuria a Cannes 2022, ha vinto nel 2017 il Premio Strega, il Premio Strega Giovani e il Prix Médicis étranger.
