17 SEP 2024 · Welcome back to the studio. This is My Day of Play, where you’re taken into the real events and actions of how it happens long before the process of editing or cleaning up. This is how it really went. Today we’re spending time with one of the creators of Nothin’ But A Good Time on Paramount+ Jeff Tremaine. Then we’ll spend a moment with YA author Cynthia Leitich Smith who has opened many doors for young readers to learn more about Native American folklore. Conversation number three gets extremely hardcore real. It’s with historian Dr. Allan Lictman who has predicted 9 of the past 10 presidential elections. Then we’re gonna wrap stuff up with Rocker James Gates the bass player for Salems Childe. This is My Day of Play. Completely unedited in the way of meeting the wizard behind the curtain. Â

17 SEP 2024 · Joe Kenda's new book, FIRST DO NO HARM (on-sale September 10th), follows Colorado Springs Detectives Joe Kenda and Lee Wilson as they investigate a string of overdoses from fentanyl-laced heroin sourced by hospital's unpleasant anesthesiologist - who in turn angers a Mexican crime syndicate and sets into motion a cycle of death and violence that threatens to engulf the entire city. Kenda's writing is authentic and addictive as he leans into the true emotions, pressures, unexpected twists, and legalities that feed into working a massive criminal case. He really knows how to tell these stories because he spent two decades living them. With his transition from working in a crime unit, to his TV shows, to now writing fictional books - he's been able to take his massive fanbase along for the ride, behind the scenes, and right into the action. A crime junkies dream!

16 SEP 2024 · This is the book NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre DOES NOT want you to read. Shad White is the Mississippi state auditor who exposed Favre for his involvement in the diversion of millions of dollars in TANF money- money meant to aid the poorest people in the nation's poorest state-in order to build a deluxe volleyball facility at his college alma mater. But Favre was only part of a much larger coverup. Now, in MISSISSIPPI SWINDLE: Brett Favre and the Welfare Scandal that Shocked America (Steerforth Press; August 6, 2024), White tells the riveting story of how a small group of powerbrokers enriched themselves by misdirecting nearly $100 million in federal money, and how White led a scrappy team of investigators and auditors to bring the culprits to justice. White's office unmasks a sprawling conspiracy that stretches from Mississippi to Malibu and involves famous athletes, media personalities, and public officials. -more- Born and raised in Mississippi, White won a Rhodes Scholarship and earned a JD from Harvard. He returned to Mississippi and became the youngest state auditor in the country. Eleven months after his appointment, he received a tip that would lead his team to uncover the largest public fraud case in Mississippi history. At the scheme's heart was John Davis, the head of the state's Department of Human Services. Through the agency, Davis provided tens of millions of dollars of funding, meant to provide services for the state's poor, to organizations run by a woman named Nancy New. White discovered that Davis, New, and a cadre of family and friends collected that money to fund their lavish lifestyles that included a home, vacations, and luxury cars. White and his team also discovered the New family had spread money so widely around the community that it was in plenty of people's best interest to not question it. Charity after charity received TANF funds-from local high school bands and beauty pageants, to the Junior League of Jackson and sports booster clubs, to the millions of dollars for the volleyball facility, via Brett Favre's influence. MISSISSIPPI SWINDLE is a story of how power is acquired and maintained. For White, some of those in power sought to maintain it by pressuring him to "handle the case quietly." Favre himself dug in, issuing denial after denial, and later using his celebrity bullhorn and an army of lawyers in an unsuccessful bid to intimidate White and his family. It's also the story of the corrosive nature of fraud that's at the heart of Americans' loss of faith in their institutions. White offers the good news that the remedy resides with the people who can put a stop to that fraud and convince everyday Americans they are being treated fairly and their money is being protected.

16 SEP 2024 · Thanks for being part of the conversation I am the Poet In The Forest. A children series I penned out in the 1990s. None of it would be possible if it wasn’t for this forest in South Charlotte, NC. I talk about it so much that I thought maybe it’s time you get to meet all that inspires me. Thanks for being part of the conversation

14 SEP 2024 · OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network’s First-Time Buyer’s Club, which spotlights the house-hunting journeys of first-time home buyers, is back with all-new episodes beginning Friday, September 13 at 8pm ET/PT. The series provides an authentic, in-depth look at the exciting but complex journey of becoming a homeowner for the very first time, no matter the stage in life.
Former teacher-turned-realtor Amina Stevens creates a custom plan for new clients, navigating the many pros and cons of various homes and locales. Amina goes out of her way to educate and inspire clients who may be intimidated by the overwhelming housing market. By investigating each client’s unique situation, Amina takes pride in helping her clients break through the myths about home ownership so they can one day realize their dreams.
With an increasingly limited supply of available housing and sky-high mortgage rates, housing affordability has become a key focus of the 2024 presidential election. In a Gallup survey earlier this summer about Americans’ top financial worries, housing ranked second only to inflation. In light of these challenges, Amina can offer listeners insights about knowing when is the right time to buy, understanding what you can afford, working with a realtor, and how to create your personal path to home ownership.

14 SEP 2024 · I’m Arroe… I am a daily writer. A silent wolf. I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate. I call it The Daily Mess. A chronological walk through an everyday world. Yes, it’s my morning writing. As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later. When a subject arrives, I dig in. It’s still keeping a journal! By doing the research the picture becomes clearer. This is the Daily Mess… Observations 95 and 96 The word stonewalling has been showing up in a lot of news stories and conversations. How does stonewalling come into being a foundation or platform? Plus Friday the 13th has always been somewhat of a day to endlessly be aware of. Does it really have Biblical connections?Â

8 MAR 2022 · I could spend hours studying the effects of water and wind. How a one time sheet of glass glamorously paints the portrait of fall colors then swiftly evolves into a series of ripples by a restless wind. It's as if Mother Nature has sent out a message of her portraits being for a limited time. As people we endlessly send out signals. Body language! What our body is performer may not be what it's physically projecting. What is seen from afar versus what is truly heard are two different shapes of communication. Body language to a receiver is solely based on assumption. Because your body is saying this doesn't mean that's the vocal message. I've learned to work with the wind. To mess up the calm and give those watching waves of new beginnings. I see myself in two different places, on Undercover Boss and on Tik Tok. Camera's are always watching. No step is taken without body language. What is your body saying to other people? The worse part about it is how it's not what others are reading.
