Major corporations moving or expanding across the state creating tens of thousands of new jobs. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development is reimagining workforce development to meet the needs of these businesses.
On our premiere episode, host Chris Cannon speaks with Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development Commissioner Deniece Thomas. Commissioner Thomas talks about current and upcoming projects such as the building of the new Nissan Stadium, the Youth Employment Program, and more!
Later, Adult Education Assistant Commissioner Jay Baker talks about a new pathway to a high school diploma in Tennessee.Â

In addition, Tiffany Phillips of Rutherford County Schools and Katrina Rucker of Roscoe Brown Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing about their mechanical and electrical plumbing pre-apprenticeship. Roscoe Brown has put through over 90 pre-apprentices through their apprenticeship program.

In 2019, the State of Tennessee started Apprenticeship TN, in about 4 years the state of Tennessee has over 8,300 active apprentices and 375 Registered Programs. Apprenticeships are a great way to earn while you learn on the way to a career in an industry. Shalondria and Autumn discuss why ApprenticeshipTN became a State Apprenticeship Agency, bringing Registered Apprenticeships to the healthcare industry, and National Apprenticeship Week from November 13-19.

Garrett discusses how the program works and how Tennessee employers can access this service at no cost.

That funding allows a dedicated staff to provide individualized career and training-related services to veterans and eligible persons with significant barriers to employment and to assist employers in filling their workforce needs with job-seeking veterans.
