Technology is becoming one of our top tools to advance our personal progress or promote the agenda of any society or organization. The question of how we use it or consume it depends on how you see and view its potential to solve problems. I suppose the person who invented electricity wanted to offer a solution and not create problems. We have options to choose the former to improve our livelihood and not otherwise.
A majority of people use it for fun and games and others use it sabotage or attack enemies or win against competition, whatever reasons you might want to own or control it, it is best used uniquely to offer human solution like hearing aids, artificial limbs and so on.
