29 APR 2024 · Genesis 6 through 9 tells the story of a great flood.  We typically refer to it as "Noah's ark" and it is often used as a children's story.  However, it is actually one of the most disturbing stories in the Bible.  It is a story of God's judgment against mankind for their sin.  Almost the entire human race is wiped out.  It is also a story of salvation by grace: God saves Noah and his family.  What do we learn about God and how He views and responds to sin?  What does this tell us about the judgment that is coming?  How can we be saved from God's judgment?

22 APR 2024 · What is a worldview?  It is how we view and understand the world around us; how we live our lives in light of our worldview.  It is how we answer the big questions about God, humanity, life, death: Why is there evil in the world?  Suffering?  Death?  What is our biggest problem and what is the solution?  Genesis 3 helps us answer these important questions.  God reveals the nature of sin in relation to Him.  He reveals Himself as the righteous Judge who deals with those who sin against Him.  He also displays His mercy and gives mankind hope for salvation.

15 APR 2024 · Psalm 11:3 (ESV) says “if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” The foundations of our society are being destroyed, what can we do? The Psalmist takes refuge in God. We need to see the world from God’s perspective and seek to live by God’s commands and principles.  We’re looking at the 7 C’s of history: Creation, Corruption, Catastrophe, Confusion, Covenant, Cross, Consummation. As we continue to look at creation, we learn about the unique place of mankind in God's plan and how God wants us to live.  

8 APR 2024 · According to the Biblical Worldview Institute, "a biblical Worldview is an overarching view of the world based on God's revealed truth, the Bible, which directs our life in this world. It shapes our beliefs about God, Creation, Humanity, Moral Order, and Purpose."  - God – To whom or what do I ultimately answer? - Creation – What comprises reality? - Humanity – Who am I, and how did I get here? - Moral Order – How do I determine right and wrong? - Purpose – Is there a reason and purpose for my existence? Genesis 1 helps us answer these important questions and will help us shape a worldview based on God's Word and not the world's philosophy.

25 MAR 2024 · Jesus had to die to deliver us from our greatest enemies: the Devil and death.  He delivered us from the fear of death through death.  He died that we might live forever!

11 MAR 2024 · Why did Jesus have to die?  To demonstrate God's love.  Do you feel loved?  Do you believe that you are loved?  Do you believe that your family loves you?  What about your spouse or friends?  Do you believe that God loves you? We should never doubt God's love for us.  He loved us so much that He sent His only begotten Son to save us by His death.  

4 MAR 2024 · Christians believe that God saves us from our sins through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus.  It is foolishness to the world and a stumblingblock for many.  They think, "What a strange and cruel way to save people."  Why did it happen this way?  Why did Jesus have to die on the cross? Couldn’t there have been another way? Jesus, after His resurrection, said, "Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. (Luke 24:26-27 ESV)This was the best way.  This was the only way.  It was purposed and planned out of the wisdom of God.

25 FEB 2024 · How can we help those who are weary and heavy burdened?  If we aren't careful, we can do more harm than good. Instead of compassion we can offer up ungenerous suspicions, ungracious judgements, underserved condemnation, and uncaring platitudes. According to Charles Spurgeon, “strong minded people are very apt to be hard upon nervous folk,” and “to speak harshly to people who are very depressed in spirit,” saying, ‘really, you ought to rouse yourself out of that state.’” “one of the most cruel things that can be said to the sufferer.”  While trying to help he “only inflicts additional pain.” We need to follow th golden rule: Treat others how we would want to be treated.  We need to ask the question: How does God deal with us?  How does God care for us when we are weary of soul?
