  • E26 - XYÜ BOÜHE [Fuck a War] #3 / Arkadiy Kots Band

4 NOV 2022 · This is the third episode XYU BOUHE fuck the war – collaged for you from soviet and postsoviet antiwar music of all genres. This series is put together by Arkadiy Kots band – antifascist folk-punk, riot cantautore group formerly based in Moscow. And here we will focus on Two particular authors Galina Ustvolskaya – symphonic and camera music composer of the post World War Two period. Whose life and work was severely affected by the experience of that war. Even if she had never expressed any interest in politics or even social life, she was actually always monastically and frugally dig into her music, - her only refuge. But we can draw a clear line through the trauma of her early life during the fascist invasion in Europe and Soviet Union 80 years ago and her method of creating her music in this clearly painful way. She herself could not apply any lable to her work, she was saying: There is no link whatsoever between my music and that of any other composer, living or dead Critics called her a woman with the hammer for a reason, in her mature period she uses the hammer as a percussion instrument, and the octets of upright basses, and a fist-hammering technique to play grand piano. Another feature we put in dialague with Ustvolskaya – is Egor Letov and Grazhdanskaya Oborona his flagship band. Fans of Letov are uncountable including Arkadiy Kots band ourselves. and he is referred to as a Father of Siberian Punk, which is a very specific phenomena of late soviet underground music scene. Letov died 14 years ago, he was only 42. Here we collected for you some of the most clearly antiwar manifestation of Letov. Who in the time of war become even more required by the people who oppose the invasion of putin in Ukraine. Buon ascolto, comrades XYU BOUHE

  • E24 - XYÜ BOÜHE [Fuck a War] #2 / Arkadiy Kots Band

27 SEP 2022 · On September 21 of 2022, after 7 months of bloody invasion of Russia in Ukraine, Putin has openly declared the full-scale war and announced a full-scale military mobilization. This immediately led to the new wave of protests, street guerilla actions - setting on fire more and more recruitment offices, women’s uprisings. It also brought up a very unusual wave of migration of men who consciously decided not to take part in the war. These days there’s a massive stream of war-migrants never seen in history – a somewhat reversed flux from “prosperous” Russia to the poor former-soviet south. This chapter of MIXFEELINGS is compiled by Arkadiy Kots – an antifascist folk-punk band formerly based in Moscow. Their series of mixtapes is dedicated to the antiwar culture in Soviet and post-Soviet time\spaces. --- 00:01 jingle + No to War Intro {background sound -- Solvychegodsk from Krebsgang} 01:05 Arina Dovgan – Mourning for the Recruit 02:41 protests & arrests {part 1}, anti-war Movement in Russia after September 21, 2022 04:04 Lucio Morelli & Nicola Negrini – Le Deserteur 05:31 Solvychegodsk – Soldiers’ Song 09:52 Jrpjej from After the War Comes Funeral: Circassian Songs of Resistance and Sorrow 1763-1864 12:00 Masha I Medvedi – XYU BOUHE | Fuck the War 16:35 Chto Delat a sound fragment from the Canary Archives film, 2022 21:22 Krasnye Zori – Chervei [No One's Stronger than the Earthworms] 29:09 DJ Bomboklad (Werk It Rec) – Blew Raw See You 32:17 NUR Ensemble of Pamir Musicians in Moscow – Garibi 36:17 GOU – I Hate Moscow! 39:16 Sepultura – Terrritory 43:38 Aleksandr Vertinsky – On the Death of Young Soldiers 46:41 Joan Baez – Saigon Bride 49:48 Arkadiy Kots Band – Amara Terra Mia (Domenico Modugno cover) 53:31 protests & arrests {part 2}, anti-war Movement in Russia after September 21, 2022 54:39 Firefly Frequencies Outro

  • E22 - XYÜ BOÜHE [Fuck a War] #1 / Arkadiy Kots Band

28 MAY 2022 · In this ХУЙ ВОЙНЕ [Fuck a War] series of mixtapes, Arkadiy Kots are mixing their rage, pain, and opposition against the ongoing war, and solidarity with the peoples of Ukraine. In this mix tape the band share soviet and post-soviet anti-war evergreens from WWI, komsomol-core of the 60-70s, zastoy-punk of the 80s, and very recent anti-regime podpolye dig outs. Kovynev adapted the melody of a popular tango by Polish composer and band leader Jerzy Peterburski. In a timeline manner the song tells about the first days of invasion. The song became part of the day-to-day soviet anti-war mind-set. *** Symphony №7 by Dmitry Shostakovich was premiered in August 1942 in the city of Leningrad while besieged by German and Finnish military forces (1941-1943).
