A great way to help you lose weight is to switch the pasta you're eating to whole wheat pasta. Pasta can sabotage your diet because it's tasty and very easy to eat too much. Whole wheat pasta offers much more nutrition and is a great source of carbohydrates.

Eating salads can be a helpful when trying to lose weight. A salad consisting of a ton of fresh vegetables and a few of your favorite fixings on top (bacon, cheese, dried cranberries, fresh fruit, cold cuts, chicken, or nuts) could be your favorite meal of the day. Top it with your favorite low fat or fat free dressing and you have a fabulous low-fat, nutrient dense meal.

A good way to help you lose weight is to avoid getting coffee and related drinks at cafes. Most of us aren't aware of it, but these drinks tend to be loaded with sugar and fat. Try brewing your own coffee instead. You'll have control over what goes into it.

Before giving into your cravings, have a drink of water. The body can't tell whether you are hungry or whether you are just in need of a drink; so before assuming that you are starving, try a glass of water and wait about 15 minutes. This can save your waistline and your pocketbook as well.

A good weight loss strategy to follow is to make use of smaller dishes. When you use over-sized dish plates, you can inadvertently overeat due to dishing up larger portions. Your meal should fit within a 9-inch plate. Anything larger is too big and unnecessary.
