13 MAR 2020 · Episode LXXVIII (78): BECAUSE ANY DAY IS A GREAT DAY TO RELEASE A (NEW) RUSSIAN IMPERIAL STOUT - Tonight (Thursday, March 12) the Galactic Power Hour returns to the road as we visit Saloon Door Brewing and “break in,” broadcast-wise, the brewery’s brand new private event space (perfect for weddings, rehearsals, parties, showers and everything else you can think of), The Texas Room. Although Mighty Mike is on vacation in Italy and will be absent tonight, GCPH alumi and Houston Craft Beer Influencer Sylvia B from Draught Queens radio and Co-Chapter Lead at Houston Girls Pint Out will be reuniting with host John Ennis to help keep the conversation (and beers) flowing. It should be a great show and if time allows, we will tease some of what is on tap this weekend in beer, music and space thanks to our friends at the SCENE Magazine including following up on last week’s discussion with Punkstar Radio’s Khris Harding and Glen Autry and the platinum selling, Grammy nominated hard rocker Paul Crosby about this weekend’s massive Willow Fest all-day show on Saturday, March 14 at the Brazoria County Fair Grounds featuring Crosby’s internationally-known band Saliva, The Hunger, Faceplant, Downfall 2012, Dead Set Red, Alvin & the Slickpunks, Tame Fury, Cripple The Empire, The Dope Show, Hour 25, King Baby & King Kello among others. Other upcoming shows of note include tonight’s (Thursday, 3/12) appearance of the Celtic hard rockers the Blaggards at T-bone Tom’s, the award-winning Southern-Fried rock and blues of guitar ace and singer/songwriter Mark May and his band at Katie’s tomorrow night (Friday, 3/13) and fan favorite The Slags Saturday (3/14) at Jackie’s Brickhouse. • GCPH 28: LIVE with John and Kathryn Holler from Houston’s Holler Brewing & Nobi Public House General Manager Channing Herrin

9 MAR 2020 · Episode XXVIII: COUNTDOWN TO HOLLERPALOOZA II: We are pumped to have a full house, live and in studio tonight (7pm sharp) as we welcome the husband and wife team of John and Kathryn Holler from Houston’s Holler Brewing Co. as well as local craft beer evangelist and Nobi Public House General Manager Channing Herrin to the show. Few, if any, breweries have gotten off to as impressive a start as Holler Brewing, which celebrated a Great American Beer Festival win and a Certified Cicerone® achievement inside the first year of operation. We look forward to learning more about the brewery, the couple behind it (our advance investigative staff has unearthed an impressive beer background between the two including the Siebel Institute in Chicago, Doemens Academy in Munich, the aforementioned Certified Cicerone program and out-of-state brewery experience) and their journey of education, experience, permitting, planning, test batching, more permitting and construction to get to where they stand today. On that note, the brewery is celebrating its second anniversary this Saturday with Hollerpalooza II, which we will cover in depth. Rumor is there will be multiple new Holler beer releases along with live music, food and free admission. We are also excited to discuss, and hopefully try, the recent Holler/Nobi Pub collaboration “Not Trending: Brown Ale” that Herrin helped brew at Holler. According to our research, “Not Trending: Brown Ale” is a Texas Brown Ale dry hopped with Chinook and Amarillo with a dank, floral aroma and a big malty flavor with a bitter, dry finish. Since we have been trying to get Herrin on the show for a while, we have a ton of questions for him regarding the status of the local, state and national craft beer, NEIPAs, impact of social media on craft and much more. If time allows (thought it likely won’t with this lineup), we will bring back the Galactic Coast Challenge where we will see if brewers still keep the exclusive edge over astronauts, aquanauts, aviators, American Ninja Warriors, artists, authors and Air Force Generals. We also p[lan to preview the upcoming Weekend Live Music Calendar (Pick of the weekend could be national acts Mickey Avalon and Dirt Nasty tonight at Scout Bar). And as always, we will put our guest to the test with our signature, on-topic, super-special audio quiz. Did we mention there will be beer? Thirsty yet? Then grab a brew and tune to the Galactic Coast Power Hour on Vinyl Draught Radio at 7pm!! The show is available live on YouTube, www.vinyldraughtradio.com, iHeartRadio, Spotify, the TuneIn app, the Player FM app and the Live 365 app. NEW DEVELOPMENT ALERT: Android users can now download the Vinyl Draught Radio app from the Google Play store (Apple IOS Version awaiting approval and coming soon). All episodes are also available on iTunes, Google Play and SoundCloud. Cheers!! - John Ennis, along with co-hosts Michael Taylor, Sylvia the Beer Fed Mother and the world’s most talented production/support team of Teagan Shunkwiler, Matthew Sweatt and Houston Radio Legend Atom Smasher at the controls. Prepare for Liftoff!!

7 MAR 2020 · Episode LXXVII (77): SUPPORT LOCAL & LIVE MUSIC - Tonight night (Thursday, March 5) we are excited to welcome Punkstar Radio’s Khris Harding, Glen Autrey and potentially a special surprise guest (Hint: A platinum selling, Grammy nominated hard rocker who we’ve been told enjoys a good IPA and which we are more than prepared for in that area if he can make it) LIVE in studio for a beer-fueled conversation. Harding, who had the Galactic Guys on his dynamic broadcast Punkstar Full Throttle live from Scout Bar 5+ years ago, has been on our guest wish list since day one and roughly two years later the calendars have aligned and its finally going to happen. The discussion is sure to include the local live music scene including this Saturday’s Support Local Music Showcase at the area’s newest live music venue, The Yard at Barge 295 along the north shore of Clear Lake which Harding and Autrey are hosting. We will also take a deep dive into the massive Willow Fest show on Saturday, March 14 at the Brazoria County Fair Grounds featuring Saliva, The Hunger, Faceplant, Downfall 2012, Dead Set Red, Alvin & the Slickpunks, Tame Fury, Cripple The Empire, The Dope Show, Hour 25, King Baby & King Kello among others. Tonight is going to be a fun — if not wild — show and if time allows, we will tease some of what is on tap this weekend in beer, music and space thanks to our friends at the SCENE Magazine including tonight’s Battle for SxSW Officially Unofficial featuring Etsai, Of The Fallen, Deteriorated, The Tenebrian Machine, Envy the Dead and more just down the street from our studio at Scout Bar immediately following our show. We are also excited about the all day S.O.S. Fest benefit for musican/songwriter and past GCPH guest Marc Borde Saturday (March 7) at Fattys and featuring 12 hours (14 acts) of live music including the much anticipated reunion of Shark Attack. Make sure to check out the SCENE’s Magazine’s recent post covering all of the live music this weekend along the Galactic Coast (Home of Human Spaceflight and Waterfront Capital of Texas). Thirsty yet? Then grab a brew and tune in to the Galactic Coast Power Hour at 7:30pm!! Tonight show will be streamed live on Vinyl Draught Radio at www.vinyldraughtlive.com (click the listen live button and don’t worry what the player displays as it often displays the last song played before the show takes over the stream). The show will also be available on a range of networks, apps and platforms including , iHeartRadio, Spotify, TuneIn, Player FM, Live 365, iTunes, Google Podcasts, Spreaker, Google Play, SoundCloud, Apple Podcasts, Cashbox, Deezer and Podcast Addict among others. Galactic Coast Power Hour mobile apps for both IOS/Apple and Google/Android devices are coming soon! Cheers from your hosts the Discovery Channel’s “Galactic Guys” (John Ennis and Mighty Michael Taylor) and thanks to our bearded station boss Bertrand Mc for covering for our regular producer and bearded buddy Teagan who is in Austin. • GCPH 65: LIVE with Houston's most highly anticipated brewery yet to open LOCAL GROUP BREWING

29 FEB 2020 · Episode LXV (65): NEW HOUSTON BREWERY SO ‘LOCAL’ IT IS IN THE NAME: - Tonight we return to our roots — beer — and visit with the newest and most highly anticipated brewery yet to open in Houston as the founding fellas from Local Group Brewing join us live and in studio to drink (and talk) local craft beer. Opening very, very soon in Hardy Yards at Houston’s Near Northside, Local Group Brewing is a 7,500+ square foot brewpub with a view of downtown Houston focusing on its taproom operation with 20+ taps, eight of which will be connected directly to ten-barrel serving tanks for optimal beer freshness, and a chef-driven kitchen pulsing out diverse bites made with thoughtfully-sourced ingredients. “Our goal is to focus on the whole experience within our building, and that includes the beer we brew in small batches, high-quality food, amenities for kids and pets and a relaxing, casual atmosphere that spreads across a patio with killer views and an air-conditioned taproom,” explained Michael Steeves who will be joining us in studio along with his co-founders Todd Donewar and James "Huggy Bear" Wolfe. “Huggy Bear,” who originally came to Houston to work at NASA, left the aerospace industry after a decade supporting spaceflight in favor of the creativity and passion he found in craft beer. He joined No Label Brewing Company, where he quickly became head brewer, before continuing to Southern Star Brewing and earning a reputation for creating finely crafted and highly drinkable beers. The New Orleans-born Donewar and Canadian Steeves have worked together in Houston’s energy industry for years and found a common interest in homebrewing and eventually opening a brewery. The dream became reality when Local Group made a long-term investment in it’s Near Northside neighborhood by purchasing the building it now calls home. Local Group recently made news by hiring the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts educated Jeff Samosa as the brewpub’s Executive Chef. Samosa has more than 15 years experience cooking delicious food at spots including North Italia, six different Hyatt hotels across the nation and Houston’s The Post Oak Hotel; he served as Executive Restaurants Chef at the latter, the Bayou City’s only AAA 5-Diamond Resort. As executive chef at Local Group Brewing, Samosa will put his hospitality-driven spirit and professional background to work redefining the brewpub experience with thoughtful, approachable, creative eats made with locally-sourced ingredients. We look forward to visiting with Wolfe, Donewar and Steeves and diving deep into their vision for contributing to and collaborating with the local, regional and national craft beer scene. Word is we will could be the first media outlet to try their Horchatanita (3.9% ABV • Cinnamon lactose blonde ale reminiscent of horchata, the Mexican sweet milky refreshing summer drink) and Double Slammin IPA (8.4% ABV • An Imperial IPA was brewed with Mosaic, Citra and El Dorado -> Easy drinking with some time on this beer softening the bitterness). We also are led to believe the topic of Human Spaceflight might come up as well and who are we to pass on that, especially as the largest gathering of astronauts and cosmonauts in history have come together this week right next door to our studio for the Association of Space Explorers' (ASE) Planetary Congress XXXII (only the fifth time in history it is held within the United States) this week at the Johnson Space Center and Space Center Houston. And if time allows, we plan to put our guests to the test with our world-famous, on-topic audio quiz and tease some of what is on tap this weekend in beer, music and events thanks to our friends at The SCENE Magazine including our favorite event of the year, the Wings Over Houston Airshow. Note: The Thunderbirds are scheduled to enter local airspace at 3pm and our team will be there at Ellington Airport for a report and preview tonight. As always , a ton of great musical acts will be taking to area stages this weekend stating tonight when the Dutch symphonic metal band Delain, Finnish heavy metal band Amorphis and former The Gathering lead singer/songwriter Anneke van Giersbergen combine for a special international performance just down the street from the studio at Scout immediately following our show. The Karavan to the Keys Kickoff Weekend brings a full lineup of trop rock to T-bone TOm’s this weekend with the Kelly McGuire Band (plus Dennis McCaughey & Bewn Reyna) on Friday, October 18 and Jerry Diaz & Hanna’s Reef (plus Bama Breeze Sounds, Joel Block and Donny Brewer) on Saturday, October 19. And don’t forget Already Gone (Eagles Tribute), one of the top rated Tribute Bands in Texas, takes the stage Saturday night at Jackie’s Brickhouse. Make sure to read the feature about Already Gone and find out what else is going on this weekend in the current (October 2019) issue of The SCENe Magazine. Did we mention there would be beer? Thirsty yet? Then grab a drink and tune in to the Galactic Coast Power Hour at 7pm!! The show is available live at www.vinyldraughtradio.com, on the iHeartRadio app, Spotify, the TuneIn app, the Player FM app, the Live 365 app and NEWSFLASH: THE BRAND NEW VINYL DRAUGHT RADIO APP AVAILABLE NOW in both the ITUNES and GOOGLE PLAY stores (we told you it was coming). Episodes are also available after the fact on iTunes, Google Play and SoundCloud. Cheers from your hosts the Discovery Channel’s “Galactic Guys” (John Ennis and Mighty Michael Taylor). Special thanks to the tallest fella in radio (that we know), the great Greg Meisinger at the controls and keeping us on the air and sounding good. We also appreciate all of those helping behind the scenes at the station, the many networks that carry us and beyond. Prepare for Liftoff!!
