CiTR -- Mix Cassette

  • 13.6

25 JUL 2019 · Welcome back everyone - Sadly, this is my last show in Vancouver for a while, as I am moving to Montreal and will be embarking on new personal, academic, and professional adventures. Mix cassette will continue however (look out for new shows in early Fall 2019), and we are going to be leaving the West Coast with a mix of good feelings and nostalgia, in this respect, 13.6 stands out for its booming sonics, incredible vocals, and shifting moods throughout, beginning with a classic from Sly & The Family Stone, followed by another masterpiece from the Flaming Lips' 'Soft Bulletin', a stunning, intense, neo-R&B cut from Bilal, and another wonderdul 80s synthwave retread from Wild Nothing; next, we get into great indie-electro, R&B, and hip-hop, with a cool opener c/o CRi, HOMESHAKE with the singular transition, Consequence and Kanye demonstrating the best of early aughts soul-sampled hip-hop, Frank Ocean providing further proof of why he is the best in the business, and Men I Trust continuing their winning streak of great lo-fi coastal soft-pop; we close with a special dedication with classic Pink Floyd, Symmetry, and an unforgettable bonus gem - Please enjoy~~
