Caryn & Jeremy in the Morning
17 SEP 2024 · Have you ever asked the internet for help, like on social media? Turning to the internet for help can be hit or miss, but Mathew's experience was nothing short of heartwarming.
After losing his wife, he realized he didn’t have many good photos of them together, thanks to her shyness with cameras. He shared an old favorite photo online, but the harsh flash made their faces hard to see. He asked if anyone could fix it... and wow, did they deliver!
About 200 strangers edited the photo, clearing up the glare. It was like getting a big, warm hug from the internet, showing Mathew there are folks out there who care.
17 SEP 2024 · Ever feel like you're just spinning your wheels, getting nowhere? I get it. It's a tough spot, and we've all been there.
Isaiah 60:22 hits home during these times, promising "The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord; in its time I will do this swiftly."
It's a reminder that timing is everything. God’s timing, that is. He knows when we're truly ready for the blessings He has for us. So while we prepare, we wait... not for just any moment, but for God’s perfect moment.
16 SEP 2024 · Miles, an ER nurse, wasn’t on duty during Hurricane Francine, but that didn’t stop him. Spotting a truck submerged near his home on the news, he grabbed a hammer and dashed out the door. He knew he’d probably need to break a window to help... and he was right.
As floodwaters rose, he managed to rescue the trapped driver, all caught live on TV. Miles’ quick action and calm under pressure come from his ER experience, proving heroes don’t always wear capes - sometimes, they carry hammers.
16 SEP 2024 · Sometimes sharing an opinion on social media feels like throwing a rock into a pond and waiting for the ripples: good or bad. I recently shared my thoughts on a neighborhood issue and got mixed reactions. Some agreed, others didn't, and I almost got caught up defending my stance. But then I remembered something crucial: it’s not just about being right.
Ephesians 4:2 teaches us to "be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
This verse reminds me to prioritize love and understanding over winning an argument, because at the end of the day, hearts matter more than opinions.
13 SEP 2024 · Talk about a special date for the Lammert family! Each of their four daughters - Sophia, Juliana, Mia, and now little Valentina - were born on August 25th, and not one of those dates was planned. From the oldest at nine to the newborn, this family has something truly extraordinary to celebrate every year!
13 SEP 2024 · Sometimes, when you’re in the middle of a mess, you find yourself wondering where God is in all of it. Lysa TerKeurst puts it beautifully: "Faith in God is being assured of His goodness, even when what He allows doesn't feel good."
This reminds me of that story in Mark 4 where Jesus and His disciples are in a boat. As the storm picks up, the disciples panic, but Jesus, He’s calm as can be. With just a few words, He quiets the storm.
It’s a powerful reminder that no matter the chaos, being with Jesus means we're in good hands. His plans have us heading to the right place, storm or no storm.
12 SEP 2024 · Did you know having a simple card in your wallet could inform emergency responders that you have pets at home needing care if you’re unable to communicate? After sharing this tip, a listener suggested another great idea: adding "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) before a contact's name in your phone to indicate they should be notified in emergencies.
12 SEP 2024 · Have you ever watched sunflowers trace the sun’s path across the sky? It’s pretty amazing. As they mature, they fill with seeds and eventually settle, facing east where the sun rises. This simple action results in more seeds and attracts plenty of bees. It’s a beautiful reminder for us, too. Just like sunflowers follow the sun, we're called to focus on the Son.
Psalm 84:11 puts it beautifully: "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; He bestows favor and honor. No good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless."
Let’s keep our faces turned toward Him.
11 SEP 2024 · On the 23rd anniversary of September 11, here's a heartwarming story from that day we don't hear often. When flights were diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, the town's 11,000 residents welcomed over 6,000 stranded passengers. Local folks turned schools into dorms, pharmacies filled prescriptions for free, and everyone chipped in with meals and a place to stay. The visitors were treated to tours and concerts, feeling so loved that they didn't want to leave. To thank Gander, they started a scholarship fund that’s grown to over a million dollars, helping hundreds of local kids. It’s amazing how kindness can turn a dark day into lifelong connections.
11 SEP 2024 · Sometimes the simplest tools, like a list, can help us achieve big goals. Caryn and I love to travel, and our trips always start with a list to make sure we pack everything we need. Recently, I realized I've never made a list that's probably more important than any other: a list for eternity. It's a list of people in my life who don’t yet know Jesus. I'm committed to praying for them, inviting them to church, and sharing the Gospel when the time is right. As I check off names, I’m reminded there’s more work to do. Because in the end, I want everyone I care about to join me in crossing the bridge Jesus built to eternity.
